Tedeschi Trucks Band Retire Wheels of Soul for a Single Opener Summer

Tedeschi Trucks Band have announced 17 new concerts for summer 2023 and, with them, the end of Wheels of Soul, the package-tour format the 12-piece band had used every summer since 2015.

Under the new format the band performs with a single opener each night rather than a multi-act bill. The band said the change gives them more flexibility and more time for their own sets.

Fan-club pre-sale runs February 21, 2023 at 10 a.m. local time, artist pre-sale February 22, and general on-sale February 24 at 10 a.m. local time.

One opener a night

Ziggy Marley opens the bulk of the run. Country and blues singer-songwriter Vincent Neil Emerson opens the first stretch of dates and returns for the final ones.

The tour begins with a hometown show at Daily’s Place in Jacksonville, Florida on June 22, followed by two nights at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta on June 23 and 24.

Two Upstate New York stops

The route reaches Saratoga Springs, New York on July 1 and Canandaigua, New York on July 11, putting two Upstate New York shows, one of them in the Finger Lakes, inside the same ten days.

The rest of the route

Other stops include Richmond, Virginia on June 29, Gilford, New Hampshire on July 3, Bangor, Maine on July 5, Bridgeport, Connecticut on July 7 and 8, Toronto on July 13, Milwaukee on July 20, St. Louis on July 22, Kansas City on July 24 and Lincoln, Nebraska on July 25.

Toronto and Kansas City are new stops for the band.

The newly announced dates sit alongside two previously announced two-night runs: the Filene Center at Wolf Trap in Vienna, Virginia on June 27 and 28, and the tour-closing pair at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colorado on July 28 and 29.

Festivals on the same calendar

Beyond the headline run, the band is booked in 2023 at the Savannah Music Festival, the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival and The Peach Music Festival.
