Trey Anastasio Band Returns to Albany's Palace Theatre November 12
The Albany date is one of two New York stops on a five-show November run that leads into Anastasio's Divided Sky benefits with Billy Strings in Worcester.

ALBANY, N.Y. — Trey Anastasio Band plays the Palace Theatre on Thursday, November 12, one of five shows on a short November tour that leads into Anastasio’s two benefit concerts with Billy Strings in Worcester, Massachusetts.
It is the band’s first Palace date since January 26, 2013. Phish.net lists 12 earlier appearances by Anastasio at the theatre with Phish, his own band and his side projects, the most recent with Ghosts of the Forest on April 9, 2019.
Doors open at 6 p.m. and the show starts at 7. Tickets run from $69.50 to $129.50 and are on sale through Ticketmaster and the Palace box office.
Five shows in seven nights
The tour opens November 10 at the State Theatre in Portland, Maine. After Albany the band plays Jersey City and Washington, D.C., then closes the run at The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester on Monday, November 16, the second New York date.

The Jersey City show reopens the restored Loew’s Jersey Theatre and is billed as the first concert of its new era. JamBase reports that the building opened in 1929 as one of five Loew’s “Wonder Theatres.”
The band then backs Anastasio and Strings at the Divided Sky Foundation benefits at the DCU Center on November 20 and 21. All proceeds go to the foundation, and Anastasio’s site carries a low ticket warning for the second night.
Eight musicians on stage
Anastasio has toured with a backing band since 1998. It began as a trio and has grown to an octet.
His site lists the current lineup as drummer Russ Lawton, bassist Dezron Douglas, keyboardist Ray Paczkowski and percussionist Cyro Baptista. The horn section is trombonist Natalie Cressman, tenor saxophonist Kenneth Whalum and trumpeter Jennifer Hartswick, and all three also sing.
Twelve earlier nights on Clinton Avenue
Phish played the Palace three times: November 20, 1992, and May 5 and 6, 1993. Trey Anastasio Band followed with seven shows there between May 15, 1999 and January 26, 2013.
Phish.net also logs a guest appearance by Anastasio with Medeski, Martin & Wood at the theatre on December 1, 2000, and the Ghosts of the Forest date in 2019. The Times Union counts November 12 as his 13th time on the Palace stage.
A 1931 movie palace
The Palace opened on October 23, 1931 as an RKO movie house designed by theatre architect John Eberson. It was the largest movie theatre in Albany when it opened.
It closed in September 1969, and the City of Albany bought it for $90,000 and reopened it. The city still owns the building, which is run by the nonprofit Palace Performing Arts Center and seats 2,844.
The theatre was added to the National Register of Historic Places on October 4, 1979. A $3 million restoration completed in January 2003 returned the interior closer to its original design and added an LED marquee modeled on the 1931 sign.

Tickets went on sale to the general public on September 18, after a presale through Anastasio’s site. The Palace lists prices from $69.50 to $129.50.
