John Brown's Body Reveal a Seven-Piece Lineup for Select 2024 Dates
The Ithaca reggae band named a seven-piece lineup on January 18, 2024, with three original members aboard and a set list drawn from its 1995 to 2006 catalog.

John Brown’s Body revealed the lineup for select 2024 tour dates on January 18, 2024, putting the Ithaca reggae band back on the road under its own name with seven players.
The lineup is Kevin Kinsella on vocals and guitar, Tommy Benedetti on drums, Nate Edgar on bass, Lee Hamilton on tenor saxophone, Jon “JP” Petronzio on keyboards, TJ Schaper on trombone and Van Gordon Martin on guitar. Kinsella, Benedetti and Hamilton are original members.
The band said it would focus on material from its 1995 to 2006 period, the stretch when Kinsella was active with the group.
From KK and the OG JBB back to the full name
Before reclaiming the John Brown’s Body name, the group had played select shows as KK and the OG JBB, including a few local Ithaca dates in 2023.
Kinsella described the switch as a matter of accuracy. “Hey, it’s us playing these songs; let’s just call it what it is,” he said.
“We can’t wait to bring that one of a kind, JBB sound and experience back to the stage,” the band said in announcing the lineup.
An Ithaca band with a long local record
John Brown’s Body is based in Ithaca, New York, where it formed in the mid-1990s. The band’s Finger Lakes record includes a 2006 set at the GrassRoots Festival and an appearance at that festival’s 30th edition.
The 2024 return follows a multi-year sabbatical that began after the band’s 2016 album Fireflies. Former frontman Elliot Martin is not part of this iteration of the band.

The band’s first show back under the John Brown’s Body name is April 13, 2024 at The Cabot in Beverly, Massachusetts.

The June 22 booking puts the band on the bill at Ithaca Reggae Fest, a hometown date on an itinerary that otherwise runs through New England and, in August, California.
