Big Something Bring Back The Big What? for a Tenth Edition at Shakori Hills
The band's own festival returns August 22 to 24, 2024 at a new North Carolina site after taking 2023 off, marking the tenth iteration of an event that began in 2012.

Big Something announced on January 18, 2024 that The Big What?, the festival the band runs itself, would return this summer after a year away.
The 2024 edition runs August 22 to 24 at Shakori Hills Community Arts Center in Pittsboro, North Carolina, a new site for the event. It is the festival’s tenth iteration, dating to a 2012 debut staged as an annual retreat to the band’s home state.
The festival was last held in 2022 and took 2023 off.
Two anniversaries at once
The 2024 edition also marks the tenth anniversary of the band’s second album, Big Something, putting the record and the festival on the same clock.
“This event has been a huge part of our story since we first started as a band and we couldn’t be more excited to celebrate our 10th year this August,” frontman Nick MacDaniels said.
Tickets and tiers
Early-bird tickets are on sale through Eventbrite. Admission is sold in three tiers, labeled GA for General Alien, VIA for Very Important Alien and SVIA for Supreme Very Important Alien, with car and RV parking passes offered separately.
Organizers described the program as “a spectacular selection of touring bands and artists performing across multiple unique stages over three days,” with Big Something playing multiple sets across the weekend.

Big Something’s 2024 lineup is frontman and guitarist Nick MacDaniels, Matt Laird on bass, Ross Bogan on keys, Julian Sizemore on keys, Casey Cranford on saxophone and EWI, Jesse Hensley on lead guitar and Ben Vinograd on drums.
