Borderland Comes Back to Knox Farm With Jason Isbell on the Bill
The East Aurora festival returns September 18 and 19 after a 2020 cancellation, with Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit, The Revivalists and more than 20 bands across three stages at Knox Farm State Park.

EAST AURORA, N.Y. — Borderland Music + Arts Festival announced its 2021 lineup on July 1, returning to Knox Farm State Park on September 18 and 19 with Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit at the top of the bill.
The 2021 edition marks the festival’s return after the 2020 event was cancelled because of the pandemic.
More than 20 bands are booked across three stages. Gates open at 11 a.m. each day.
The headline names
The announced headliners are Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit, The Revivalists, Pigeons Playing Ping Pong, The Infamous Stringdusters, Moon Taxi and Hiss Golden Messenger.
“Jason Isbell is one of the best performers and songwriters of our generation and we are so excited to bring him to Buffalo,” festival producer Jennifer Brazill said.
Saturday, September 18
The opening day carries The Revivalists, Moon Taxi, TAUK, Molly Tuttle, John “Papa” Gros, Workingman’s Dead, Organ Fairchild, Grub, Cole Gallagher, Mom Said No, Never Ben and Folk Faces.
Gros’ booking came through a collaboration with The Big Easy of Buffalo.
Sunday, September 19
Sunday lists Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit, Pigeons Playing Ping Pong, Hiss Golden Messenger, Cam, The Infamous Stringdusters, Neal Francis, Ghost Of Paul Revere, TK & The Holy Know-Nothings, Adia Victoria, Uncle Ben’s Remedy, A Girl Named Genny and The Brass Machine.
Beyond the stages
The festival also features vendors, artisans, local craft beer, food and live painting.
Knox Farm State Park is at 437 Buffalo Rd, East Aurora, New York 14052, in Erie County.
A regional season restarting
Borderland’s return comes in a year when Upstate New York festivals are coming back one at a time, including the Adirondack Independence Music Festival at Lake George over Labor Day weekend. Earlier Western New York festival coverage on this site includes the Great Blue Heron Music Festival.
