Kitchen Dwellers have announced Seven Devils, their fourth studio album, for release on March 1, 2024. The 12-track record is a concept album inspired by Dante Alighieri’s “The Divine Comedy,” with one song representing each of the seven deadly sins.

The Bozeman, Montana band recorded it at GBP Studios in East Lansing, Michigan with Grammy-winning producer Glenn Brown, who has worked with Billy Strings and Greensky Bluegrass. Brown recorded, produced, mixed and mastered the album.

The title track, “Seven Devils (Limbo),” arrives with the announcement as the lead single, along with an official video by Sawyer Gieseke.

Choosing a producer who pushes

“We knew going into this project that we wanted to work with someone that was really going to push us,” guitarist Max Davies said.

Brown’s credits run deep in this corner of the music. Billy Strings, one of the artists he has worked with, brought home a first Grammy of his own.

A turn inward from ‘Wise River’

The album follows 2022’s Wise River, which was produced by Vulfpeck guitarist Cory Wong.

“If Wise River is an album of the outdoors and of escapism then I think that this album is the musical result of looking inward,” banjoist Torrin Daniels said.

“Seven Devils (Limbo)” had first been played live in 2021, and its lyrics reference Portland, the 101 and the Oregon rain.

The track list and the first shows

The album runs: “Prelude”; “Seven Devils (Limbo)”; “The Crow and The Raven (III)”; “Pendulum (V)”; “Cabin Pressure (IV)”; “Drop Tine”; “Here We Go (VI)”; “Meagher’s Reel (I)”; “Waterford Son (II)”; “Wind Bitten (VII)”; “Unwind (Paradiso)”; and “Seven Devils (Full Version).”

The band soft-announced the record from the stage in Denver on November 10 and 11, 2023.

Alongside the album, Kitchen Dwellers have announced the first dates of a Seven Devils 7 Cities Tour: May 21 and 22, 2024 at The LAWN at Surf Motel in Buena Vista, Colorado, and May 24, 25 and 26, 2024 at Mishawaka Amphitheatre in Bellevue, Colorado.
