Asbury Park jam rock quintet Dogs In A Pile released Doggie Bag: Volume 2 on November 18, 2024. The 22-track compilation is built entirely from live recordings the band made during that same year.
According to the band’s Bandcamp page, the tracks span performances dated from January 17 through June 22, 2024. Among them are “Hesitate” from January 17, “Blues for Brian” from March 14, “Stadium Rave” from April 11, “Four More Days” from April 20, “Earthbound Man” from June 17 and a “Help on the Way / Slipknot!” from June 21.
The credits listed with the release are short. Brian Masella recorded and mixed the compilation, Michael Hickey mastered it, and Joseph Lugo shot the cover photo.
The band
Dogs In A Pile is Jeremy Kaplan on keyboards, Brian Murray on guitar, Jimmy Law on guitar, Joey Babick on drums and Sam Lucid on bass. The group is based in Asbury Park, New Jersey.
Four nights in Saratoga Springs to close the year
Six weeks after the compilation arrives, the band will close 2024 with a four-night New Year’s run at Putnam Place in Saratoga Springs, New York, playing December 28, 29, 30 and 31.
It is the band’s second headlining New Year’s Eve run at the venue, following a two-night stand there in 2023, and it gives the Capital Region an end-of-year residency from a band whose year has just been packaged into a record.
Another 2024 live release built from a single stage rather than a studio came from bassist Karina Rykman, who issued a 15-track document of her sold-out Manhattan headline show that August.
