Phish to Return to Watkins Glen, NY for 3 Day Festival August 17-19, 2018
WATKINS GLEN, NY – Phish will return to Watkins Glen International in upstate NY for their 11th festival August 17-19, 2018. Our independent sources in Watkins Glen have confirmed that the long rumored festival dates have been set and a contract will be signed in February. We can expect an official announcement from the band by March/April.
This marks the bands 3rd festival at Watkins Glen International with the previous ones in 2011 (***Superball IX)***and 2015 (Magnaball.)
If previous Phish festivals at the world famous race track are any indication we can expect Phish to play 8 sets over 3 days. The last Phish Festival at WGI was capped at 35,000 tickets and sold out the week before the event.
Rumors of the bands 11th festival started back in the spring of 2017 when WGI President Michael Printup expressed interest in an interview with The Star Garzette,
“They only do those festivals every three to four years. Their last one was ’15. Maybe ’18, ’19 we hope to maybe get Phish back.”
Flames were further fanned last summer when reddit user KennyOmega420 boldly declared:
“Festival 11 is 8/17-8/19, 2018 Watkins Glen.”
Just to clarify, we are simply stating that the long rumored dates have been confirmed by our local source in Watkins Glen. This is the same source that scooped us on Superball IX six months early back in 2011. With a production this large and a rabid fan base chomping at the bit for information it’s hard to keep a lid on the dates.
